Dynatec Completes MBR WTF for GEMA
23 April, 2006
Dynatec Systems Inc. has completed an industrial turnkey wastewater treatment facility (WTF) to service the GEMA (Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance, a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler, Mitsubishi, and Hundai) engine plant located in Dundee, Michigan. The treatment facility was paid for by the participants and is owned and operated by The Village of Dundee.
Designed and built by Dynatec, the wastewater treatment facility uses ultrafiltration for the removal of oils and heavy metals and membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology for the removal of residual organics and pathogens. It can process up to 75,000 gallons of wastewater per day, all of which is discharged as high-quality effluent to the Dundee municipal sewer plant for additional treatment prior to final discharge.
Dynatec installed the treatment system in a building owned by the Village of Dundee. It was built primarily to treat wastewater from the GEMA plant, but its oversized capacity allows for the possibility of providing wastewater treatment capabilities to other industries in the area. The system is highly automated and requires minimal operator involvement.
Dynatec was chosen by GEMA and The Village of Dundee to build its wastewater treatment facility because of Dynatec’s proven expertise in using membranes for oil and metal removal and in membrane bioreactor technology to treat wastewater cost-effectively where high-quality effluent is required.
